A creative combination of Omega-3 supplements with symbols of mental well-being, representing relief from depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

A recent study hints at good news: omega-3 supplements could help prevent mental health problems after COVID-19 (Liu TH, et.al., 2023).

Researchers looked back at a year's worth of data and found that among adults who had COVID-19, those who took omega-3 fatty acid supplements had a lower chance of experiencing depression, anxiety, and insomnia afterwards.

The study analyzed over two million patient records. Those who used omega-3s had a roughly 20% lower risk of developing psychiatric conditions post-recovery. This was true regardless of age, race, sex, or vaccination status.

The findings suggest omega-3s might be beneficial not just for general health but also for the brain after viral infections like COVID-19.
