Omega 3 fatty acids have been found to provide multiple health benefits according to numerous studies

Sometimes researchers use food-frequency questionnaires to assess data. The data based on such information may not always be reliable.

The study reviewed here was instead based on data from measurements of the omega 3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and α-linolenic acid (ALA) in the participants blood plasma (Djousse L, et al. 2011). The researchers investigated the association between these omega 3 fatty acids and type 2 diabetes.

The results documented that the participants with the highest level of these types of fatty acids had a lower risk for diabetes.

Most people get too little omega 3 fat in their diet. A high quality fish oil with high amount of EPA and DHA is an easy way to increase your omega 3 fat intake.
