A conceptual art piece depicting a figure in a relaxed pose, symbolizing a patient, with alpha lipoic acid capsules flowing into the figure and transforming into a vibrant aura of health around them. The background transitions from a chaotic pattern of high blood pressure indicators to a serene landscape of stability and wellness. This transformation illustrates the long-term benefits of consistent supplementation.

Alpha lipoic acid, a dietary supplement, has been studied to see if it helps lower blood pressure (Vajdi M, et.al., 2023).

Different studies didn't agree, so a thorough review was done. This review looked at results from 11 studies with 674 patients.

It found that lipoic acid really does help: it reduced systolic blood pressure (the top number) by around 5.46 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) by about 3.36 mmHg.

These results were most noticeable with less than 800 mg of lipoic acid per day, for up to 12 weeks. The studies only lasted for 12 weeks, but lipoic acid needs to be taken long term to receive continuous benefits.
