Polyphenols and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids from fish oils have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which have been demonstrated in several studies (Méndez L, Medina, 2021).


Bioflavonoids are a family of polyphenolic compounds from plants (González R, et.al., 2011). Both bioflavonoids and polyphenols provide protection from free radical damage, peroxidation, and inflammation.

 


The combination of polyphenols and EPA, DHA from fish oil can lead to three-fold increases in glutathione peroxidase activity, two-fold increases in plasma antioxidant capacity, decreases of 50-100% in lipid peroxidation as well as a decrease of 50-200% of common inflammatory biomarkers, among other effects, as compared to their individual effects (Méndez L, Medina, 2021).


This can easily be done by taking a good quality fish oil formula which has high amounts of EPA and DHA and also take a formula with bioflavonoids. According to the above studies this will multiply the benefits.
