There are several risk factors associated with the development of Alzheimer’s Disease. The researchers of the following study evaluated the effects of supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids alone or together with alpha lipoic acid, comparing them to a placebo on oxidative stress biomarkers in Alzheimer’s Disease (Shinto L, et.al., 2014).

It was a small study but interesting, and it went on for 12 months. The reevaluation after 12 months showed that the cognitive and functional decline slowed down more in the group that took the combination of omega 3 fatty acids and alpha lipoic acid.

This is another example showing that taking 2 supplements together can have a better effect than each of the supplements can have taken by themselves.
