Coenzyme Q10 is an enzyme involved in the energy metabolism of the mitochondria of the cell. It also has antioxidant properties and provides several health benefits. The research reviewed here documents that CoQ10 can also benefit endothelium function (Gao L, et la. 2011). The endothelium is the layer of cells that lines the inner surface of the blood vessels.

The researchers analyzed data from 5 studies on the effect of CoQ10 compared with placebo on endothelium function.

The results documented a significant improvement in endothelium function by flow-mediated dilatation.
