C-reactive protein (CRP) is an inflammatory marker. The test for highly sensitive C-reactive protein is also a test used to evaluate the risk for cardiovascular disease.

In the following study the researchers investigated magnesium’s effect on CRP (Mazidi M, et.al., 2018), 8 studies were analyzed, and the results showed that magnesium supplementation significantly reduced serum CRP level.

In this study the researchers evaluated the effect of supplementation with magnesium on serum CRP levels (Simental-Mendia LE, et.al, 2017). The research accessed data from 11 studies.

They found that magnesium supplementation reduced CRP levels among individuals with inflammation CRP levels of more than 3 mg/dL.
